Out of Service = 12 months or less
MODU is maitained in ‘ready to drill’ condition by skeleton crew
All major drilling equipment is checked on weekly basis.
Electronic equipment and systems are live and tested as per asset owner PMS system.
Main Power sources are powered up and cycled on weekly basis.
HVAC systems are running.
MODU out of service time is longer than 12 months
No skeleton crew on-board (MODU visited on a monthly basis by stacking service provider to verify condition of preservation)
Requires a detailed preservation and equipment re-activation plan
No main power
Major equipment is not functioned/cycled
Humidity (especially RH >50%) controlled with de-humidifier equipment utilized on the basis of scheduled space checks by stacking service provider personnel
Minimum manning covering fire, leakage, moorings and security watches.
Power source (solar or containerized generator to supply electric motor heaters (or remove and store in de-humifier areas).
Challenge: how to preserve electronic equipment.
Cold Stacking Phase 1
At Owners Business Units Office (3 to 6 months prior to Cold Stack).
Collecting all Data for the MODU that will be Cold Stacked.
Verify that all rig specific equipment has been covered with ModuStackingServices of the shelf generic preservation procedures.
Update ModuStackingServices of the shelf generic preservation procedures to Rigs Equipment which Owner will comment or approved and can be send to Classification for review and approval.
Create list of preservation fluids to be purchased by Owner.
Create detailed Work Flow Scope for preservation work which will include pre-tasks prior that needs to be done prior to rig-move from Owners present client’s location.
Create Re-Visiting Plan in place including equipment Specific Tasks to be completed.
Create Re-Activation Plan based on last equipment inspection type/frequency.
Cold Stacking Phase 2
At present rig location.
Verify and document that all Pre-Rig Move Tasks has been completed as per Work Flow Plan.
Cold Stacking Phase 3
At cold stacking location
To Verify and Document all steps has been correctly executed as per Approved Preservation Procedures.
Cold Stacking Phase 4
Re-Visiting at Cold Stacking Area.
To Verify and Document all tasks has been correctly executed as per Approved Re-Visiting Plan.
Cold Stacking Phase 5
Re-Activation of Unit at Cold Stacking Area
To assist Owner’s crew in re-activation of the unit.
To verify and document the exact condition of all equipment.
